This article will show you how to import passwords into MyGlue from a CSV file.
Prerequisites
- The file must be a CSV file encoded in UTF-8.
- The maximum file size is 50 MB.
-
If you make a mistake with your list import, please note you cannot undo it, but you have the option to multi-select the affected password records and bulk-delete them.
Instructions
Creating your CSV file
- Download one of the ZIP files provided at the bottom of this article.
- Sample Excel import files with required fields highlighted (Save as CSV when you're ready to import.)
- Sample CSV import files
- Open the file you want to use and delete the sample data, but not the header row.
- Paste your information into the sample import file. You can change the order of columns if needed, but do not remove the header row.
- Save your file as a CSV (Comma Delimited) document:
- If on a PC, save as CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv).
- If on a Mac, save as Windows Comma Separated (.csv).
Importing your passwords
- Open the organization you want to import your passwords into and go to the Passwords section from the left sidebar.
- Click the Import button.
- On the next screen, click Choose File to select the CSV file you created above.
- Set Allow partial imports to "No," which means the whole import will fail if there are any non-UTF-8 characters or missing required fields in the CSV. If that happens, you can rerun the import and allow partial imports to find out which rows have errors.
- Click Continue.
- Click Run Import.
- Once the import is done, you'll get an email from support@myglue.com that includes a link to view imported rows or details regarding any errors with your import.
If there are any problems performing these instructions on a PC:
- Open the CSV file in Notepad.
- Click Save As... and then select UTF-8 under Encoding.
- After selecting UTF-8, save the file with a slightly different file name from the original.
- Do not reopen the file, which will cause it to be re-encoded by Windows.
- Import this new file into MyGlue.
